The La Verne / San Dimas Meals on Wheels organization is a non-profit program that services residents of both La Verne and San Dimas. Our volunteers deliver hot nutritious meals to home bound residents who are in need of assistance. The Meals are low-sodium, and are prepared at Hillcrest Homes, a retirement community in the city of La Verne.

Our History

Jefferson Hill, our Founding Father was working for another Meals on Wheels organization and saw a need to service the communities of both La Verne and San Dimas.  The current program he was working with was limited to the number of recipients it served per month, so any additional recipients wanting to start the program, were placed on a waiting list.  Basically, someone would have to cancel the program, or pass away, and allow another to be added on.  Jefferson found a location that would prepare the meals, which was Hillcrest Homes.

Jefferson went out and solicited funds from community organizations, churches, family, and friends - anyone who would donate to the program.  Our first delivery date was July 15, 2003. We served seven meals and had more Volunteers than recipients that day.
